Stay classy – drink wine!

Stay classy – drink wine!

This blog post is not a review of wine. If you’re looking for a review, then search for ratings of James Suckling, Robert Parker and so on. But always remember: A high rating, a high bottle price or a nice design do not automatically mean that you like them, that they have a good taste on the palate. Taste is individual! So this is more considered to be a homage to one of the best things you can do with grapes: wine! 🙂

Now you find 10 reasons why wine o’clock is a pretty good idea.

1.) Wine! Because no great story started with someone eating a salad.

Just let that sink in.

2.) It’s healthy!

  • Good for the Heart.
  • Improves Lung Function.
  • Lowers the Risk of Cataracts.
  • Reduces the Risk of Cancer.
  • Better Brain Function.
  • Stronger Bones.
  • Reduces Risk of Diabetes.
  • Healthier Skin.

3.) “Wine and friends are a great blend.” – Ernest Hemingway

4.) “The connoisseur does not drink wine but tastes of its secrets.” – Salvador Dali

5.) “Wine is, perhaps, the closest thing the planet has to an elixir of life.” – Thom Elkjer

6.) “Wine is sunlight held together by water” – Galileo

Right, because the sun puts sweetness in the grape juice. But there is far more which has to be considered regarding complexity of a wine.

7.) Pizza, Pasta & Vino

Pasta and wine belong together like holidays and sun or Italy and “la dolce vita”. A good wine accentuates individual taste nuances and rounds off every pasta dish perfectly.

8.) “A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.” – Louis Pasteur

For sure, drinking good wine provides an occasion for pleasure. But tasting wine also invites you to think about what you drink. Think about that.
And: The more wine you drink, the more philosophical the discussions become. 🙂

9.) Carpe vinum (seize the wine)

Enjoy the wine; every sip of it. Enjoying wine also means understanding where it comes from and what makes it taste so special.

10.) … finally it’s time to drink (if you haven’t opened it yet)

Carpe-Diem-type phrase from the Odes of Horace, Nunc est bibendum, nunc pede libero pulsanda tellus (Now is the time to drink, now the time to dance footloose upon the earth).

“Nunc est bibendum”

“Now is the time to drink”

Seize the day, have a glass of wine, stay classy
