Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles and is around 40km away from the main island Mahé. The island is famous for its white, sandy beaches: Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette are legendary and often ranked among the 10 best beaches in the world for their breathtaking beauty! Praslin is also home to the Coco de Mer-palm tree. And: if the island life on Praslin is too monotonous for you, day trips to the neighbouring islands Cousin & Cousine, Curieuse and St. Pierre can be a great way to make excursions.
When you are on Praslin, the following things you should not miss:
- Fond Ferdinand Nature Reserve – see the Coco-de-mer (and more)
Fond Ferdinand is an insider tip. Admission is much cheaper than in the Vallée de Mai and a personal guide is always included. In the Fond Ferdinand, visitors pay only 125 SCR, in the Vallée de Mai 350 SCR. Be aware: The whole adventure is a physical challenge. Up to the very top there more than 600 steps to master. It is therefore advisable to take the first guided tour at 09:30. From the viewpoint there is a fabulous view over Praslin itself and the other inner islands. On the way up with the guide you will stop every now and then to admire the nature. Clifford knows interesting things to tell and is also very entertaining. A must!
- Anse Lazio
This beach could just as well come from a photobook! Here you will find everything you need for a top beach: unbelievable turquoise blue water, pure white sand, and the otherwise already breathtaking scenery framed by palm trees and impressive granite rocks. That’s why the beach is one of the most beautiful in the world. It offers something for everyone – swimming, snorkeling, taking pictures, relaxing.
- Anse Georgette
Anse Georgette is considered one of the most beautiful bays on Praslin. It can be reached by catamaran (i.e. by sea), by a not so easy hike over the hill or, if you like it more comfortable, with the permission of the Hotel Lemuria through the resort. Here, however, an appointment is needed.
- Anse Volbert
The fantastic white sandy beach certainly has more visitors than the other beaches, but it is also not overcrowded. There are several ways to enjoy yourself: swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing, diving, fishing or sailing. At the east and west end there is often sea grass in the water. Should be good for the skin 🙂
- Full-day-trip to Curieuse Island for spotting the giant tortoises and snorkeling around St. Pierre with a creole barbecue for lunch.

- Enjoy a sundowner (e.g. sangria), some drinks and a delicious dinner at Café des Arts (not that cheap! 🙂 )
